Monday, March 30, 2009 Dear Board Members, The African American Caucus of the North Carolina Democratic Party (AAC-NCDP) under the certified leadership of Chenita Johnson is asking for your help and assistance to file a grievance with the North Carolina Democratic Party's (NCDP) Council of Review. It is our understanding that the Council of Review will not accept our grievance until it is voted upon and passed on from the Executive Board. Our grievance involves threats from the NCDP's Leadership to disband or dissolve the AAC-NCDP unless the Caucus adhered to demands expressed through the 1st Vice Chair of the Party. These demands included calling for an immediate election of new officers. Although all necessary and required papers had been filed with the Party on behalf of the AAC-NCDP, we were told that the Party's Chairman had instructed the 1st Vice Chair to call an AAC-NCDP meeting, effectively taking over and controlling the Caucus. Because the Chairman did not address or reply to the many letters and telephone calls, the AAC-NCDP met and tried to find a way to keep the Caucus in good standing with the NCDP. Once the AAC-NCDP realized that the NCDP had no authority under the Plan of Organization to disband or dissolve the Caucus the established President and Parliamentarian ruled everything done under threats from the Party's Leadership null and void. The AAC-NCDP met with the Chairman of the Party and agreed that the Party had no legal right to communicate such threats to the Caucus membership. The AAC-NCDP is asking the Executive Board to vote to send our complaint to the Council of Review. By its actions, the NCDP Leadership has tied up financial funds and allowed individuals not currently members of AAC-NCDP to collect and disburse monies only meant to be used by Party, certified by the AAC-NCDP. The Caucus also requests your assistance to fund an audit from its beginnings until now. Accounting for funds has always been and will continue to be a dividing point for Caucus members. |
